How do I order a dedicated Server?

Getting setup is simple.  All you need to do is get in touch with an account manager.  You can do so by calling 613-276-7309 or by e-mailing sales@officeserver.ca to setup an appointment.

How long does it take for my server to be setup?

It can take as little as 24 hours to be fully up and running on any Officeserver.ca service.  It can take longer depending on the needs and setup strategy.  Officeserver.ca will do anything it can to get you up and running in the timeliest way possible.

What is the difference between mirrored and incremental backups?

Mirrored is an exact copy of all the existing files that were on your server the previous day. It protect you against data corruption, hardware failure and natural disasters (fire, water damage to hardware etc).

Incremental is an exact copy of your data for each previous day (up to a month). This actually allows you to recover files that were deleted as well as protect against data corruption, hardware failures and natural disasters.

Can I use my existing server?

The typical answer is no. Officeserver.ca uses robust Dell servers in order to ensure high reliability and system up-time. However, there are always exceptions to the rule, so it is usually best to deal with it on a case by case basis.

Can I create and manage the e-mail accounts?

Absolutely.  Officeserver.ca provides you with a simple to use web based interface that allows you to add, change and update your company's e-mails.  It only takes a couple of seconds.  Officeserver.ca helps empower you to keep your business running efficiently.

Can I get statistics on my web site?

Yes, Officeserver.ca can provide you with statistics on your website that is hosted on your managed or on-site server.  The stats allow you to understand which part of your website is getting the most hits to help you better plan and organize your information.

Can I supply my own operating system for the dedicated server?

No.  Officeserver.ca uses reliable server software developed by Mitel with all built in features.

Does Officeserver.ca monitor the server or provide system administration for the server?

Yes.  Officeserver.ca monitors the server 24/7 to make sure that it is running properly and that no software or hardware failures have occurred.  Officeserver.ca will automatically be notified if your server encountered an error, and our professional system administrators will begin fixing the problem before you even notice.

Will we have supper user or administrator control of the server?

It is up to you.  If you have IT staff in house who can manage the server and want access, we will do so.  However, Officeserver.ca is more than happy to manage all aspects of the server for you.

Will I have physical access to the on-site server?

Yes.  The server is located directly in your office.  If you would like Officeserver.ca to provide you with a dedicated server at a remote location, please contact an account manager.

Will I have physical access to the virtual server?

No.  All virtual servers are located in a secure data centre that is not accessible by the general public.
